In 1994, while preparing an orange cake a Canadian housewife, disappointed by her old grater, took one of her husbands carpentertools: the orange flakes fell down as snowflakes. The foundation for the success of Microplane® food graters had just begun. A new line of graters was conceived, dedicated both to homemade cuisine and professional chefs. The company distinguishes by its many years of experience and the use of a chemical process that creates ultra-sharp blades. Unlike printed graters, those of Microplane® effortlessly cut hard and soft foods without tearing them.
